This was a very interesting read. Saoirse and her fiance have an argument that they keep having about starting a family. She decided to take a walk to think and finds an old picture that a woman dropped before getting on a train. Saoirse follows her to make sure she gets her picture back and is now stuck on the train. Maura, the older woman who owns the picture, asks Saoirse if she would like to hear the story of her and her best friend from the picture. Maura’s story is of true history. It’s a love story that turns tragic. The wonderful doctor who turns into an abusive husband. Maura’s strength in surviving her multiple attacks is truly heroic. Bernie’s son being stillborn after months of her telling the “good” doctor something was wrong. Her husband Dan standing by her and being the best husband he could be. The bond between these women form though the toughest of times. The strength of these women gives confidence to women today. They paved the way for women’s rights today. This was the first book I have read by Laura Anthony and I must say I loved her style. This book will stay with me always. You really felt like you were there, fighting with these women, crying with them and feeling their joy. I highly recommend this book.
