By Ben Schenkman

I really enjoyed this book. A refreshing religious type magical secret world that is hidden in the real world and is necessary to solving the mystery behind Sol’s death. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I haven’t read anything by Ben Schenkman before and I must say I enjoyed his writing style. Once I started the book I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened and who did it. The different characters throughout this book are complex with multiple layers. Max being a PI and investigating his brothers death through secret magical clubs is fascinating. Meeting the different people who run the underground while normal people are none the wiser. Lots of twists as the story unfolds which keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ronnie Foster who is running for office and his assistant, Monique, who is calling all the shots are truly a hindrance to Max’s investigation. Lin, who owns the No Man’s Land, helps however she can without compromising her business. These characters are all woven together beautifully. Now the only problem is waiting for the second book in the series! I can’t wait!
