Fog and Fury

By Rachel Howzell Hall

This is a great read. LAPD cop turned PI who investigates a dog napping but goes on to solve the murder of the high school football star. Sonny (Alyson) was forced out of the LAPD and went to work with her uncle. Her mom moved with her and is suffering from dementia. Sonny picks Haven to be closer to her boyfriend, Cooper but lo and behold he is still married! Sonny in a strange twist of fate is hired to find his daughter’s dog who was stolen. This small time assignment opens doors for her to start digging into a high school suicide that doesn’t fit the description. The town seems too positive and nice, strange things are happening and no one cares. I’m with Sonny that it doesn’t add up. Lots of twists and turns in this one and a shocker at the end of who did it. Plus another missing person turns up at the end so now I have to know what happens in the next book! I loved the writing style and the surprises throughout. From the start I couldn’t stand Coopers wife Landon. She just rubbed me the wrong way. I felt bad at first since Sonny was with Cooper but I commend Sonny for ending it as soon as she found out he didn’t get divorced. I am curious if they will cross paths again next book. This was a real page turned and I enjoyed it.
