Harold is a Viking living with his aunt after the rest of his family is gone. Astrid is a seer who helps Harold throughout his journey. Olav is the new king, trying to conquer all. I hadn’t read anything by James Deloney before reading this book and I must say I like his style. This book starts off slow, giving you a lay of the land and the history of each character before he starts to intertwine their stories together. The character development throughout, especially for Harold, one of the main characters, is written in such a way that you feel their transformation. This book leaves a cliffhanger and I’m excited for the next installment. If you like complex characters with well detailed development and conflict, I recommend this book.
